We’re pleased to congratulate our own Gabrielle Toledano on being a Profiles in Diversity Journal WomenWorthWatching® Award Winner for this year. This year’s list honors corporations, organizations and institutions that recognize, employ, and promote women in the workforce and we’re very excited to see EA on this impressive list.
In her profile in this month’s Profiles in Diversity Journal magazine, Gabrielle provides her thoughts on why there is still a lack of women entering STEM fields: “I believe we are lacking female mentors and role models in STEM, and they are critical to breaking down gender stereotypes that discourage women from pursuing STEM education and STEM jobs. We all still have work to do to create a more diverse and thus innovative workforce.”
Gabrielle serves as our Executive Vice President and Chief Talent Officer and is responsible for overseeing our employees – from staffing to benefits to leadership development and Corporate Social Responsibility – and is one of the few women in leadership roles in the gaming industry. As she mentions in her profile, the gaming audience has expanded with the advent of mobile, social and online platforms and now the audience for games is 47 percent female, so she feels it’s even more important to create a diverse and inclusive workforce. As she puts it, “Women know how to design and develop games that women like to play. Without different ideas, we cannot innovate and reach our diverse consumers.”
